Dr. Jayna Harthan graduated from Midwestern University in 2018 with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology. After receiving specialized training in PTSD and other trauma-related disorders-during her postdoctoral fellowship at Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center in North Chicago, Illinois-Dr. Harthan has worked in a variety of settings including VA Medical Centers, community mental health centers, long-term care facilities, and private practice. Dr. Harthan works with individuals aged 18+ with a history of trauma, childhood sexual, and combat related. She also works with mood disorders including but not limited to anxiety and depression. Dr. Harthan uses an evidenced based approach when it comes to treatment, and has specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy. She also uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and takes a person-centered approach to treatment. Dr. Harthan provides a supportive, calm environment to her clients, as she realizes that certain topics are difficult to discuss. She also emphasizes a trusting relationship to foster growth. She helps clients become aware of their problems as they arise, and helps clients develop tools they need in order to effectively cope with stressors.
